Getting to know you
I am so excited to have the opportunity to capture Charles and Gabby's wedding this summer. The importance of documenting one of the most important days of your lives is never lost on me and as such I decided this year that I want to meet my wedding couples before their big day if possible so that they know who I am and have a sense of how I do things as far as capturing their photos. It also gives me a chance to get to know them, their vibe, how they feel about pictures, and what is important to them to document on their wedding day.

We have been planning this model call/meet up for a while and decided to take it inside due to the winter really holding on this year. Akron Photo Society is this great industrial space in downtown Akron that was perfect; warm, cozy, inviting, and beautiful for our session. I attended the University of Akron so it is always like going home to have an opportunity to go down there. When I do model calls they are for me to practice lighting, styling, posing, etc. and I love them because I can fumble, learn, and come out on the other side a better photographer. We used dresses from my client closet that are available for any session. We also used my new styling guides to pick jewelry, color palettes, and hairstyle. I think they look amazing, this gallery is so very beautiful.
A confession....I still get a little nervous
When the winter is ending I feel like I have to reacquaint myself with my camera, with my shooting style, with working with adults, etc. I feel like I go from holiday, holiday, holiday, to quiet, to shooting predominately children in studio for a few months. This year has had its challenges as I had a flare of an autoimmune problem right around the holidays where I think the cascade of the stress of the last two years finally hit me and to be honest it has taken me a while to get back on my feet. My other job is in healthcare and it has been a really long two years. In looking at my blog I realized I haven't blogged in about two years, it's been really hard at times to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. I am hopeful that this spring and summer has better times ahead. This was a great session to get my trusty Nikon out, my new light for weddings, shake off my nerves, and get lost in the artistry of the moment.

I am so excited to capture Gabby and Charles wedding day. Their venue is the perfect beautiful rustic setting and I cannot wait to see the way they style their wedding and all the special touches. I am sure it will be a day full of fun and happy memories for them and their families.
